One of the primary challenges in Iraqi pipeline engineering is the aggressive environment. Soil salinity is exceptionally high in central and southern Iraq, and raw water drawn from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers often carries high levels of suspended solids and corrosive elements. Additionally, summer temperatures regularly exceed 50°C. In such conditions, standard bare-metal valves quickly succumb to corrosion, scaling, and premature failure. This is why epoxy coated butterfly valves have become the mandatory standard for engineers and contractors across the country.
Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating provides a highly durable, non-porous barrier that isolates the valve’s ductile iron body from corrosive media and harsh soils. With a thickness of 250 microns or more, this coating prevents rust, reduces fluid friction, and ensures that drinking water remains free from metallic contamination. For industrial applications, it protects the valve from chemical erosion and atmospheric weathering in high-heat desert environments.
