The importance of valve selection: The selection of control valve structures is determined by comprehensively considering factors such as the medium used, temperature, upstream and downstream pressures, flow rate, the physical and chemical properties of the medium, and the cleanliness of the medium. The correctness and rationality of valve structure selection directly affect performance, control capability, stability of regulation, and service life.
I. Process Parameters:
- Medium’s Name.
- Medium density, viscosity, temperature, and cleanliness of the medium (with particulate matter).
- Physicochemical Properties of the Medium: Corrosiveness, Toxicity, and pH.
- Medium Flow Rates: Maximum, Normal, and Minimum
- Pressure Upstream and Downstream of the Valve: Maximum, Normal, Minimum.
- Medium viscosity: the higher the viscosity, the more it affects the calculation of the Cv value.
These parameters are mainly used to calculate the required valve diameter, rated Cv value, and other dimensional parameters, as well as to determine the appropriate materials that should be used for the valve.
II. Functional parameters:
- Operation methods: electric, pneumatic, elector-hydraulic, hydraulic.
- Valve’s functions: regulation, shut-off, and combined regulation & shut-off.
- Control methods: Petitioner, solenoid valve, pressure reducing valve.
- Action time requirement.
This part of the parameters is mainly used to determine some auxiliary equipment that needs to be configured to meet the functional requirements of the valve.
III. Explosion-proof protection parameters:
- Explosion-proof rating.
- Protection level.
IV. List of Environmental and Dynamic Parameters
- Ambient temperature.
- Power parameters: air supply pressure, power supply pressure.
Precautions for Replacing Valves
To ensure a compatible valve replacement and prevent installation issues, please provide the following dimensions. Variations between manufacturers and designs can lead to poor fit or insufficient space. At TWS, our experts will tailor a solution by recommending the right valve—butterfly valve, gate valve, or check valve—for your requirements, guaranteeing performance and durability.
