 Painting to identify valves is a simple and convenient method.

 

China’s valve industry began to promote the use of paint to identify valves, and also formulated special standards. JB/T106 “Valve Marking and Identification Painting” standard stipulates that 5 different colors of paint are used to distinguish the material of industrial valves, but from the practical application, due to the wide variety of valves and complex applicable conditions, it is difficult to identify the valve body material by painting alone.

 

It is difficult for users to accurately determine the applicable conditions of the valve based on the color of the paint alone.

 

For example, different grades of similar materials, although the paint color is the same, but its pressure-bearing capacity, applicable temperature, applicable medium, weldability, etc. are quite different, and it is still necessary to determine its applicable conditions and scope according to the specific valve material. Valves made of stainless steel and acid-resistant steel cannot be determined whether they are suitable for nitric acid or acetic acid media without resorting to other methods, whether painted or not.

 

Due to the different manufacturing methods of the valve, etc., there may be cases where the valve body material cannot be identified by the paint.

 

The standard requires that the identification paint be applied to the unprocessed surface, but how should the valve body surface be painted and identified? What is the difference between the special anti-corrosion treatment of the valve surface? There are many special purpose valves in the industry that are also difficult to achieve uniform spray identification. And because different countries have the same customs, the painting of export products still needs to be determined according to the needs of foreign markets or subscriber requirements.

 

Special emphasis on the painting identification of valves will make it think that the painting of valves is mainly for identification and ignores the painting process and spraying quality.

 

The surface painting of the valve should be mainly aimed at protecting the valve (such as anti-corrosion).

 

Using a coating overlay to prevent corrosion on the valve surface is an economical, simple and effective method. Valve paint should also consider aesthetics. The painting of sanitary valves should meet the requirements of health and safety standards.

 

Coatings also require good stability in the medium environment in which they are used.

 

In-depth study of the necessity and feasibility of analyzing paint recognition.

 

Formulate the applicable technical conditions for valve coating (spraying) painting to technically ensure the quality of valve coating (spraying) painting.

 

It is emphasized that the main purpose of coating (spraying) paint to protect the valve should be allowed, and it should be allowed to choose the appropriate coating protection according to the applicable conditions or adopt other suitable protection methods. The study adopts a more rational and reliable identification method. Printing (or casting) material marks on the valve body or nameplate is a common identification method used abroad, which is also worth our reference. Many manufacturers in China have also begun to adopt this method. Develop a uniform, universal, simple valve material code or logo for printing (or casting) and identification.
